TOPIC: Vila Verde Owners Group

Vila Verde Owners Group 5 years 1 month ago #19108

Hi everyone. Just a short message to let everyone know that only two pools on Vila Verde are operating at this time. It seems our investment is going down hill with Tecnicil in charge. I only hope the Vila Verde Owners Group can can up with a plan of action in their upcoming AGM. I am a member and it still amazes me that there are some owners who don't belong to it. I believe that there is well over 300 members, but if there was even more, then the owners group, on behalf of owners could vote Tecnicil out of 4 condominiums and run them. Then perhaps we could have condominiums without the power being turned off, clean pools, lifts that work and well maintained gardens. At least then owners could have paying tenants in their properties without them having to leave because of the dreadful way the resort is being run.

Hi Rumple

Firstly, what John has posted above is a true picture of the current situation at Vila Verde.

In the past, both yourself and Buckie have posted incorrect facts about the situation on Vila Verde which is why I have objected to your posts.

As I keep saying I only really trust the views of fellow owners, as I believe others who hide behind names on a forum may have hidden agendas.

John is an owner, quite rightly concerned, due to Tecnicil's constant inability to run VV properly.

In the past Buckie has suggested that I am somehow 'in league' with Tecnicil and so leading all fellow owners down a dangerous path. It has never been the business of this forum, but for your information, it is now pretty much 12 months since I left my position as the head of the owners group in fact I am not even on the committee any longer.

So, as now just a 'mere owner' myself, I just remain a financial contributing member of the group and like John rely on the current committee to take up the fight with Tecnicil.

If I were still fighting the fight with Tecnicil would things be different? Who knows? What I do know is things in this past year have been a whole lot worse than previously.

Do I enjoy life better not being involved with constant battles with Tecnicil? Of course I do, my own apartment on VV is of little concern to me, almost everything I previously did was for the benefit of others.

Maybe those who criticize others yet do nothing to help situations themselves ought to take note.

All that said, if the proposed takeover of VV by a new company takes place, I should imagine that the situation will get better, as it may over the winter in any event as more guests arrive.

Hacker, see your still feeling those empty pockets ? :woohoo:

Things may look really good on paper after all Tecnicils literature looked great !!!

No matter who runs the place, it's going to be run like a timeshare.... You put lots in and don't get much out. I'm not trying to mean and nasty, it's just that's the way it was designed to be, and how Banks lent then so much money because of the long term returns for those fat cats....

...As for Andy, I'm still of the opinion he could have done more for the owners and not bent over for Tecnicil ! But as he points out, who cares about my opinion ???

It's still a beautiful place to visit and holiday no mater where you stay...

How's your investment panning out Rumple ? It will go the same way as Vila Verde and Tortuga (Money wise only he guys....)

Have fun, life's too short

Buckie

I bought an apartment on Vila Verde and due to my experience in property both here and abroad, took it on myself to help other owners as I could see what Tecnicil were.

It is now approaching 2 years since I stepped down as heading up the Vila Verde Owners Group, a group that probably wouldn't be in existence had it not been for my initial efforts.

When I was head of the group things happened, contracts were changed, owners got fair compensation and outcomes with my help, Tecnicil gave way because I made them do so, fees were low, the resort had fully functioning pools, there were no problems with water, the resort had a transport system for owners, I could go on.

Now, it is probably fair to say that before saying that I could have done more for owners and less for Tecnicil, to see if things are better or worse since I vacated my position 2 years ago. Only fellow owners could comment on that, I guess the proof is in the pudding as they say!

The Med looks great from my living room window as I write!

Buckie, my place is costing me next to nothing, that includes TW looking after it. A caravan at Haggerston would cost at least three times as much.

Tecnicil have started cancelling contracts in the contact group I run www.capeverdeinvestments.com . I suspect this is either BES kicking them up the backside or Aqua Hotels whom are negotiating to take over the running of Vila Verde. Anyone who has had these recent letters of termination and have disagreed with the delay still have a small chance of salvation! but must take legal advice asap or I fear they will lose every penny to these bandits? The supreme court ruling is still awaited and maybe Tecnicil have been given the nod as to the way judgement will fall may also play a part in this sudden move by Tecnicil to cancel clearing the decks maybe.

Taz you'd best tell your friend to instruct a Solicitor to reply to the letter disagreeing to it, that way Tecnicil will have to go to Court to get the property back. HOWEVER saying that Tecnicil are doing whatever they want, and may well just take it in any case....

As said, such a corrupt company in such a corrupt country, they do anything they want and by the time any court action does come, it costs ore than you've lost !!!!

Taz,

Sorry for not replying, But Buckie is correct, however your friend can quote the contract and say they want arbitration to deal with it. Also the web address above has joined forces with the Murdeira beach group and hopefully others so we can bring some if any (which Cape Verde gov, will probably ignore as they actually don't give a flying F... about anything other than themselves) pressure on MEP's and them continuing to give European taxes to the CV government. We are dealing with a mentality that actually does not care whatsoever and only live for the here and now future does not enter into their thoughts at all. :(

Portuguese Group wants to save tourist resort in Cabo Verde
January 12th, 2015 News
Portuguese group Água Hotels will take over the management of the Vila Verde Resort on the island of Sal, Cabo Verde (Cape Verde), said the President of Tecnicil group, Alfredo Carvalho, cited by local newspapers.

“We are in the final stage of negotiations, and we can state that within a short time the management of Vila Verde Resort will be handed over to the Água Hotels group, which will explore not only the condo, but also the tourism section,” said Carvalho adding, “they will basically replace Tecnicil Imobiliária.”

Água Hotels will try to save the Vila Verde Resort that has faced difficulties in meeting its financial commitments, including wages to staff, bills and a “loan of 120 billion escudos to BES Cabo Verde.”

The name of the resort will be changed to Água Hotels Sal Vila Verde and is divided into 13 different condominiums, sharing reception areas, restaurants, cafes and bars, including several swimming pools, tennis courts, sauna, bike paths, fitness centre, spa, country club, night club, several restaurants showcasing regional and international cuisine, terraces, a playground and gardens.

The managing director of Água Hotels, Paulo Lourenço, cited in the statement said that with this the group “moves into Cabo Verde, Sal Island, and internationalises the brand, which was already a priority.”

In Portugal the Água Hotels Group has the Água Hotels Mondim de Basto, Douro Scala, Vale da Lapa and Riverside units. (macauhub/CV/
