30/06/08 - António Neves takes over as director of TACV on July 1 PDF Print E-mail

Economist António Neves, who until now served as president of the administrative council of Cape Verde’s National Social Security Institute (INPS), will be sworn in tomorrow, July 1, as the new general director of TACV Cabo Verde Airlines.

Despite the certainty regarding this, TQCV has yet to release any official information on the subject. Neves substitutes Canadian Gilles Filiatreault, who has commanded Cabo Verde Airlines for the past 19 months. The target of wide-reaching contestation on the part of various sectors in the company, particularly its pilots, Filiatreault was finally removed from his post last week, with the government acknowledging that “things did not work out as we had expected.” The controversy surrounding the management of TACV was brought up in parliament last week, with opposition party MpD once again holding the government responsible for the less-than-ideal situation at the company.

Despite Filiatreault’s replacement, the MpD has announced that it will request a parliamentary inquiry into TACV.
