29/01/07 - Cape Verde brewery seeking export markets PDF Print E-mail
ImageCape Verde drinks company SCCR is to begin exporting its Strela beer to the Gambia, an executive of the firm has said. Arnaldo Rocha, director general of the company, told weekly newspaper A Semana that 25,000 liters of beer will go on sale in the Gambia by the end of February. The West African state has been chosen to market Strela beer because of a plant operated there by the Equatorial Coca Cola Company, SCCR’s parent company, and also an established market for the beer.

SCCR has identified other potential markets for Strela in Portugal, where the beer goes on sale this summer, in addition to other West African states, such as Guinea-Bissau, and the Netherlands, which has a large community of expatriate Cape Verdeans.
