Cape Verde is one of three countries invited to the IMEX international trade fair, dedicated to business and convention tourism. The event will be held in April 2007 in the German city of Frankfurt. In addition to Cape Verde, the Romanian region of Transylvania and Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa are the beneficiaries of the wild cards drawn for the 2007 edition of IMEX. These special invitations assure free exposition space and promotional support at the fair.

According to organizers, the objective of the wild cards is to launch relatively unknown destinations with potential for development on the business and convention tourism market.

Cape Verde was chosen, according to organizers, thanks to arguments such as security and democratic stability, the provision of vaccines upon entry and the existence of two international airports with regular flights to various European cities.
