Brazil’s Banda Calypso and Cape Verdean pop artists Gilyto and Livity are the headliners at the São Filipe municipal festivities, which will reach their high point this week on the island of Fogo. The program of events, which kicked off on April 19, includes sports, recreational and cultural activities, and will culminate with the traditional open-air ball on May 1.

Today, Monday, the day will begin with a forum on São Filipe’s strategic development plan, followed by the “São Filipe Cup” soccer tournament, an athletics competition and a concert by Nhelas and Livity.

Tomorrow, April 29, will see the traditional horse races and a performance by pop singer Gilyto and the Brazilian pop band Banda Calypso. On the 30th, the finals in the São Filipe Cup will take place, as will a 10-km race and another concert with Gilyto and Banda Calypso.

On the final day of the festivities, May 1, activities will include mass at the central church, horse races in Alto de São Pedro and a ball with local musicians.
