The Code of Conduct for Sustainable Tourism is a document aimed at outlining rules of environmental conduct to be respected by all those involved in tourism-related activities, in order to permit the development of environmentally healthy tourism with an adequate utilization and management of available resources. The Department of Tourist Development has made a point of elaborating the proposal for the project with the help of Cape Verde’s tourist operators. This first meeting will be attended by several representatives of the sector. Aspects such as the economic use and re-utilization of water, positive energy resource management, the employment of renewable energy sources, the improved conditioning of solid and liquid residual waste, and the optimization of environmental resources are the main themes that will be discussed in the meeting. The final version of the proposal is expected to be presented on September 27, World Tourism Day. |
