The two new generators purchased by electricity and water utility Electra to reinforce its energy-producing capacity in Praia have arrived in Cape Verde. After the generators are installed, the capacity of the Palmarejo power station will be 15 megawatts stronger. According to a communiqué from Electra, the two new generators were unloaded at Praia sea port and have already been transported to the Palmarejo power station. The generators are expected to go into service in March or April of next year. The generators are the result of a contract signed between Electra and the Portuguese company STET on February 1 of this year that will allow for the reinforcement of the installed production capacity in Praia. The operation “corresponds to an investment on the order of 1.2 billion escudos and was supported in its entirety by Electra,” reads the communiqué.
