The president of Cape Verde’s Court of Accounts, José Carlos Delgado, will attend an international colloquium in commemoration of the bicentennial of the French Court of Accounts today and tomorrow in Paris. During his stay in the French capital, Delgado will discuss how to apply the accord signed between Cape Verde’s and France’s Courts of Accounts last October with the director of the latter’s Central Corruption Prevention Service. Delgado, who arrived in Paris on Thursday, was one of those invited by the president of France’s Court of Accounts, Philipe Ségun, to attend the commemorations marking the bicentennial of the institution, including an international colloquium on the theme “The Court of Accounts, a past and a destiny.” The agenda of Delgado’s trip to France also includes a visit to the Orléans Regional Court of Accounts, which has hosted a number of Cape Verdean Court of Accounts magistrates for various courses. A meeting on September 27 with the director of the Central Corruption Prevention Services, Michel Barrau, is another of the items on Delgado’s agenda, and is aimed at discussing the details of the application of the accord signed between the Cape Verdean and French Courts of Accounts during a parliamentary forum held in Praia in October of last year. The accord is aimed at supporting Cape Verde’s Court of Accounts in the establishment of mechanisms of transparency and corruption prevention. A joint initiative of the National Assembly and the Court of Accounts, with the support of the French Cooperation Agency, the next parliamentary forum will take place in October and will have as its main theme “Citizenship and Responsibility in the fight against Corruption and Money Laundering.” Among the speakers slated to attend the forum is Barrau himself, who will speak on forms of limiting and penalizing corruption and money laundering.
