During the visit, which ran from June 13 to 22, the main highlight was on water monitoring.
According to news published on the Millennium Challenge Account - Cape Verde site (www.mca.cv), the Millennium Challenge Account program’s environmental and social component has seen considerable dynamism over the past months. “Between April 24 and 25, the MCA-CV’s Environment Manager travelled to Mosteiros to carry out a training activity on the Accompaniment and Application of Measures for the Prevention and Mitigation of Negative Environmental Impacts during infrastructure work on the agricultural project, aimed at the local environmental implementation entity,” reads the site. On May 22, continues the site, the Millennium Challenge Corporation’s Environmental Evaluation Service approved the follow-up plan for the HIV-AIDS awareness-raising campaign for the Praia sea port modernization and expansion work. Alongside this, on June 12 a mission arrived in Cape Verde to accompany work on the spot and hold work meetings with officials from MCA-Cape Verde and local subcontractors. The mission is made up of specialists Richard Gaeta and Jigar Bhatt.
