Sun Rongmao, who is wrapping up his three-year mission as China’s ambassador to Cape Verde, said that Cape Verde’s “excellent geo-strategic position” increases its chances of being chosen for the headquarters of one of these zones, and considered the possibility that country would be selected “good.” “At the moment, the embassy itself is making great efforts so that Cape Verde can come to host one of these zones,” affirmed the diplomat, who guaranteed that the Chinese government supports the idea, the realization of which depends, nevertheless, on a series of other factors as well. As China has a market economy, explained Sun, entrepreneurs will have a say in the selection process, and are expected to “study the issue before any final decision is made.”
