Cape Verde President Pedro Pires said relations with Cuba were good and expressed thanks for the island s support and solidarity with his country in health, education and agriculture. Pires appreciated Thursday Cuban efforts for preserving the memory of Amilcar Cabral, founder of Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde, by leading both nations for their independence of the Portuguese colonialism in the 70s in the last century.
The Cape Verde statesman honored Thursday the former African fighter and laid a wreath at the monument located in a Havana Park dedicated to African Leaders.
The activity was attended by Cape Verde ambassador to Havana Crispina Gomes, Cuban Foreign Ministry Sub-Saharan Africa department director Ivan Mora, and Basilio Gutierrez, vice president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, among others. |
