The EspĂrito Santo Group, which includes companies in the banking, insurance, hotel and air transportation sectors, will present the Cape Verdean government with its project for Cape Verde tomorrow, October 21. The project includes the establishment of a commercial bank in the archipelago, as well as an off shore bank and a large-scale building complex containing an international conference center, a five-star hotel and a tower, where the headquarters of Banco EspĂrito Santo Cape Verde will be located.

The Espírito Santo Group hopes to erect the complex in the area where the Jaime Mota military barracks is currently located, in Praia’s central Plateau district. Meanwhile, Banco Espírito Santo plans to open a Praia delegation in the immediate future, prior to the construction of the complex, in order to begin operating in the country’s banking sector.

The project will be presented by the president of the Espírito Santo Group’s administrative council, Ricardo Salgado, who will be accompanied by other members of the body. The government will be represented by Minister of Finances and Planning João Serra and Minister of Infrastructures and Transportation Manuel Inocêncio Sousa.

Ricardo Salgado will also be received during his stay in Praia by a number of Cape Verdean dignitaries, including President Pedro Pires and Prime Minister José Maria Neves.

The Espírito Santo Group is considered Portugal’s second most important financial conglomerate.
