Praia International Airport Praia's new international airport will begin operating on October 6. The decision was made on Monday in a meeting of the airport task force, which unanimously agreed upon the date to transfer commercial air traffic operations from Francisco Mendes airport to the nearby Praia International airport.

The task force, which is responsible for making the Praia International Airport operational, issued a communiqué in which it expressed its “satisfaction at the excellent results obtained in the airport's certification process, which culminated in the issuing on September 13 of a provisional operating certificate, which resulted from the creation of the conditions essential for this airport structure to begin functioning.”

The task force’s communiqué also includes an exhaustive overview of the operational state of each of the airport’s sectors of activity, reported by each member of the group, which concluded that the airport meets the conditions necessary to become operational.
