20/02/08 - UN provides € 5 million in support for environment and fight against poverty

The United Nations will support Cape Verde with approximately 5 million euros in funding, to be distributed to areas such as the fight against poverty and environmental preservation.

The 2008 Annual Work Plans were signed yesterday in Praia by the Cape Verdean government and by the UN representative in Cape Verde, Patricia de Mowbray.

According to Cape Verde’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the UN will aid the country in the area of state and public administration reform, the fight against poverty and the improvement in the management of natural and environmental resources.
