CV Multimédia’s ZAP TV cable television service began broadcasting the main games in the Portuguese Soccer League Friday, officially kicking off its new channel, Bola TV, with a game between Sporting and Académica.
The new channel, which will be exclusively dedicated to sports, will broadcast Portuguese league games throughout its first weekend of existence. Bola TV, channel 22 on the ZAP service, will broadcast between four and five games live every weekend, in addition to other sports-related programs and news reports. The introduction of the new channel, which in its initial phase will broadcast daily between noon and midnight, according to CV Multimédia director Rui Fortes, “will respond to the expectations of ZAP’s clients,” who, since the introduction of the cable television service have been calling for the inclusion of more sports-related programs, especially ones involving the Portuguese soccer league. “We’re always seeking out the best way to satisfy our clients, and it is in this context that we are now offering Bola TV, which in the future will include programs from other parts of the world as well,” says Fortes, who promises “more interesting innovations soon.”
