United States Transportation Secretary Thomas Barrett will arrive today, April 18, in Cape Verde to visit a number of the projects being financed by the US government’s Millennium Challenge Account program, including expansion work on Praia sea port. Admiral Thomas Barrett will meet with Cape Verde’s Minister of Transportation, Infrastructures and the Sea, Manuel Inocêncio Sousa, and evaluate the prospects of addition US support for Cape Verde. One of the possibilities is the financing of the expansion of Praia International Airport. Barrett’s delegation, which includes the vice-president of the Millennium Challenge Corporation and the administrator of the US Federal Aviation Administration, will visit Praia International Airport along with several officials from the Cape Verdean Civil Aviation Agency. Later, the delegation will visit Praia sea port, the expansion of which is being financed by the Millennium Challenge Corporation. The delegation will also meet with Prime Minister José Maria Neves.
