The Cape Verde Roads Institute (IE) and construction company Engeobra have signed a contract worth some 450 million Cape Verdean escudos (around 4 million euros) for the maintenance and management of the road network on Santiago Island.
The service contract, which will last for three years, is the first of its kind signed by IE as part of the Road Management and Maintenance Program, which aims to transfer road maintenance to private companies through public tenders.
This agreement, the first of seven to be signed by the Cape Verdean State, will hand over the entire management of most roads on Santiago to Engeobra, namely São Domingos/Assomada, Boa Entrada/Tarrafal, Variante/Calheta,Calheta/Tarrafal, Praia/Cidade Velha and Praia/Trindade. |
