14/12/06 - Czech Republic identifies potential areas of cooperation with Cape Verde PDF Print E-mail
ImagePrague intends to intensify its cooperative ties with Praia. With this in mind, Sandra Linkenserová, the general consul of the Czech Republic in Lisbon, which also has jurisdiction over the country’s relations with Cape Verde, made a visit to Praia this week.

During her visit, the diplomat, who is also the Czech Embassy’s cultural and press attaché, identified areas to be included on the two countries’ cooperation agenda.

The first of the areas is education, followed by business and culture. “Based on the meetings I had here, I realized that giving an opportunity to young people to carry out university-level studies in the Czech Republic” is one of the country’s priorities.

Meanwhile, on the trip, “which I carried out mainly to learn and to get to know the country,” Sandra Linkenserová was able to identify other potential areas of cooperation, mainly in the sectors of civil construction and energy - all indications are that the Czech Republic intends to help install electrical generator parks in Cape Verde.

In the area of Culture, and considering the fact that the Czech Republic has extensive experience in the protection and promotion of culture patrimony and heritage, Sandra Linkenserová spoke of her country’s willingness to support Cape Verde, for example, in the preservation and promotion of Cidade Velha as a world heritage site. “We’re willing to support Cape Verde in many aspects. We’ve just entered the European Union and we’re ready to make our know-how available in the areas in which it is necessary.”
