14/06/06 - CV Prime Minister visits Sambala Village
ImagePrime Minister José Maria Neves will visit the construction site of the tourist real-estate project known as Sambala Village today to get a first-hand look at the investment. The enterprise, located near São Francisco beach, some 20 kilometers from Praia, is an example, according to Neves, of the growth in direct foreign investment in the island of Santiago, growth that is expected to gain momentum in the near future.

Sambala Village is budgeted at 630 million euros, with the first phase of the project - consisting of 68 bungalows and nine apartment buildings with a total of 388 units, as well as restaurants, stores, bars, sports complexes and parking - consuming investments on the order of 30 million euros.

The project, which belongs to British group Grepne, will be carried out over the course of 20 years, encompassing an area spanning from São Francisco to Móia Móia beach. The project also calls for the construction of two luxury hotels, a marina, a golf course and various tourist villages.

During the visit, businessman Jonathan Grapne will also sign a protocol with the State Education Secretariat calling for the construction of a school in São Francisco and Vale da Custa.
