13/09/07 - Promotional video on Cape Verde to be produced

The National Union of Tourist Operators, Unotur, in partnership with Portuguese advertising company Contacto Virtual and audiovisual production company Fresco Produções are working to produce a video on the islands of Cape Verde. The project is the result of the need for an up-to-date, dynamic promotional tool for the country able to meet the expectations of the tourist agencies and businesses promoting Cape Verde as a vacation destination and able to stir a desire to visit Cape Verde in potential tourists.

This project, according to Fresco Produções’ David Santos, is aimed at promoting all of Cape Verde’s islands, there people, traditions, customs, history, culture and hospitality.

It is also intended as a way of advertising the islands’ cultural and geographical diversity and focusing on aspects of interest to potential tourists.

The documentary to be produced will be distributed at tourism and business fairs, as well as to real-estate companies, airlines, Cape Verdean community organizations and embassies around the world, and television networks, among others.

“This is a pioneering project in that, for the first time, various different Cape Verdean and Portuguese companies from various sectors are financially supporting the video’s production. At the moment, we’ve confirmed the participation of real-estate company Sogei, the Central de Cervejas and Portuguese tourist company Soltrópico,” says David Santos.

The shooting of images will be developed in three different phases. The Fresco Produções team will go ahead with the first phase beginning on September 21, visiting the islands of Sal and Boa Vista. Between October 21 and November 2, it will visit the islands of Santiago, Maio, Fogo, Brava and São Vicente. Between November 16 and 30, it will return to São Vicente and visit the islands of Santo Antão, São Nicolau and Sal in order to shoot underwater footage.
