13/04/06 - Prices up in March

The Consumer Price Index reached 191.6 in March of this year, higher than the figure registered the month before (190.1). According to the National Statistics Institute (INE), the monthly variation rate for the month was 0.8% on a national level, standing at -1.3% in São Vicente, 0.7% in Praia and 1.4% in the rural zones.

The variation rate in comparison to the same month last year was 4.7% on a national level. In Praia, the rate stood at 6.1%, while in the rural zones it was registered at 5.1% and in São Vicente at 1.5%.

The average monthly variation rate for the 12 months preceding March stood at 1.5% on a national level, 0.9% in São Vicente, 1.6% in the rural zones and 1.7% in Praia.
