12/08/08 - English TV host discusses lucrative Cape Verdean real-estate market |
Jo Sinnott, a host on British television network Real Estate TT (RETV), gave an interview to the channel’s Web site to speak about the next season of the program “The Next Big Thing.” The series, which she hosts, reveals potential real estate markets around the world. Cape Verde was the theme of one of the installments of the program, which highlighted the viable financial returns guaranteed to those investing in the country.
In addition to trips to Dubai and other lesser-known regions of the United Arab Emirates, Sinnott reveals in the interview that she also spent some time in Cape Verde, specifically on the islands of São Vicente, Santo Antão and Sal. “It’s not just an interesting place to invest in real-estate, but also an ideal place for my next family vacation,” says the television host.
Among the ideal conditions for investing in Cape Verde, Jo Sinnott highlights the archipelago’s “perfect” meteorological conditions and the relatively short distance between the country and the United Kingdom and the rest o f Europe. “The objective is to transform the islands into high-standard resorts. There is such great potential for this business to become prosperous that I personally think that the islands are ideal for a vacation, and specifically for investment.”
Questioned about the best places to acquire land, the host says she was “attracted by Santo Antão.” “It’s green, with exuberant mountains on one side and perfect beaches on the other, and, just like the rest of Cape Verde, you can still obtain beach-front properties at reasonable prices,” she explains.
The TV host comments on what she calls the country’s ambitious plans for the future. If they are gone through with, demand is expected to increase considerably, as are prices, which places Cape Verde in the profile of “The Next Big Thing.” The complete program on Cape Verde can be viewed on the RETV site (www.realestatetv.tv/video-gallery/next-big-thing-cape-verde_8020.html ).
