Nicklaus will spend a mere five hours on the island of São Vicente, visiting the land where the tourist enterprise Salamansa Sands is slated to be built. The golfer will look over and give his opinion on the conception of the space - alongside his career as a golfer, Nicklaus is the owner of a business that has conceived and designed various golf courses throughout the world. A golfer for the past five decades, the American sportsman has garnered 105 victories in international tournaments and a record 20 titles in the world’s most important championships. “Jack Nicklaus has designed 255 golf courses all over the world,” reads a communiqué from FM Cabo Verde, which also highlights the fact that the firm Nicklaus Design currently has 54 golf course projects projected or under construction in 37 different countries. “At least 57 golf courses designed by Kack Nicklaus have been classified on international lists of the 100 best in the world by the magazines Golf Digest, Golf Magazine and Golf Week,” continues the communiqué. Jack Nicklaus, who is 67, is considered one of the tem greatest athletes of the century. In November 2005, he triumphed in his last British Open, grabbing an unprecedented victory for the United States in the President’s Cup.

Jack Nicklaus, named the “the Golfer of the Century” or even “the Golfer of the Millennium” by some of the world’s most important sports publications, will visit the island of São Vicente on May 15 to sign a contract with tourist real-estate company ITS to design a golf course and publicize the island worldwide as a tourist destination for practitioners of the sport. The golfer will also visit the São Vicente Golf Club.
