11/11/06 - Inflation rate at 0% in October

The average inflation rate for the twelve month-period ending in October stood at 4.5%, according to data announced yesterday by the National Statistics Institute (INE). The figure stood at 5.1% in Praia, 4.8% in rural zones and 2.5% in São Vicente. The monthly variation rate for the month of October was 0% on a national level, meaning that prices did not alter in relation to September. In Praia, the inflation rate for the month of October stood at -1.6%, although the rates in the rest of the country (0.3% in rural zones and 0.8% in São Vicente) brought the national average to zero.
