09/10/06 - Cape Verde beats Republic of Guinea 1-0

The Cape Verdean national soccer selection defeated the Republic of Guinea Saturday in Praia’s Várzea Stadium in the second round of the Group 8 qualifiers for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.

The match’s only goal was scored by Lito seven minutes into the second half. The win was Cape Verde’s first in a home game in two years.

In the next round of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Cape Verde will go up against Algeria.
