08/08/07 - Maio with three passenger ship connections per week PDF Print E-mail
ImageShipping agency Polar is the only one to have altered its travel Schedule to Maio following the decision by the Civil Aviation Agency to close the island’s airport for security reasons. The mixed passenger and cargo ship Barlavento will travel between Praia and Maio every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. STM Lines, which owns the ships Sal Rei and Tarrafal, cannot travel to Maio because neither of its vessels is able to dock at the island’s port. Praia d’Aguada is also unable to travel to the island, as it is in maintenance.

The Civil Aviation Agency, which supervises aeronautics activities in Cape Verde, decided to prohibit the use of the airport on Maio for takeoffs and landings due to the state of the runway.

The airport will be closed until work on the runway is completed, which has led to the cancellation of the three weekly flights TACV normally makes to the island.
