07/11/06 - Cape Verde signs accord with Microsoft PDF Print E-mail
ImageThe Operational Information Society Nucleus (NOSI) has signed a technical and partnership accord with American software giant Microsoft.  The terms of the accord will be announced in a press conference tomorrow, November 8, at 11:00 am.   According to a communiqué from NOSI, which is part of the Inter-Ministerial Commission for Innovation and the Information Society, negotiations with Microsoft had been going on for some two years.

Recently the coordinator of NOSI revealed that the Nucleus was undertaking tests and negotiations aimed at giving the State of Cape Verde a satellite-based Internet service under conditions considerably more satisfactory than those currently provided by Cabo Verde Telecom.

The move is intended as a way of improving the quality of the services provided and substantially reducing prices in order to achieve “a true information society,” said Jorge Lopes.
