A group of entrepreneurs from the Spanish autonomous region of Galicia has arrived in Cape Verde today, May 7, for a mission that will last until the 11th. The intention is to establish partnerships with Cape Verdean colleagues from various different business sectors in order to consolidate Spanish, and particularly Galician, investments in the country. According to a press release from the organizers of the mission, which is being coordinated by Jacobo Camba, the delegation will include representatives from 12 businesses who will visit the islands of Santiago, São Vicente and Sal “in order to hold a series of meetings with entrepreneurs on these islands” in a bid to “increase the potential of investments by Galician business owners in Cape Verde.”
Missions of this type have been carried out periodically since 2003, and since then some 50 entrepreneurs have visited Cape Verde, “making major investments and establishing commercial accords with many different Cape Verdean companies,” reads the release. These missions have been carried out in collaboration with the Canary Islands Chamber of Commerce in Cape Verde, as well as the Leeward and Windward Islands Chambers of Commerce.
