| 06/12/06 - Sterling Merchant takes over as temporary administrator of TACV |
US company Sterling Merchant, which won a bid to manage TACV Cabo Verde Airlines until its impending privatization, has taken on the administration of the airline. The company’s new administrators will most likely be led by Canadian national Gilles Filiatreault. Cape Verde’s Minister of Infrastructures and Transportation, Manuel Inocêncio Sousa, swore in TACV’s new administrators yesterday.
The nominal directorship of TACV will rest with Camaroonian national Roger Jantio, president of Sterling Merchant, while Gilles Filiatreault, who will serve as TACV’s general director, appears by way of Sterling Merchant’s partnership with German company Morz Transport Consult. In any case, as of this week, TACV has a new management team that will lead the airline over the course of the next twelve months - the time the government believes will be enough for the consortium to prepare TACV for privatization.
