05/11/06 - Cape Verde to open honorary consulate in Moscow

Cape Verde will soon have an Honorary Consulate in Russian capital Moscow. The opening of the diplomatic mission will take place soon, according to the director of the Department of Consular Affairs, António Lima. Asked whether the consulate will open before the end of the year, Lima preferred not to specify a date. “The process is running through normal channels, and there’s a lot that doesn’t depend on Cape Verde, but rather on Russian authorities,” he explained.

Cape Verde used to have an embassy in Moscow. The diplomatic mission closed its doors in 2002.

At least 21 Cape Verdean university students currently reside in the Russian capital.
