| 05/03/08 - IMF begins mission in Cape Verde to evaluate performance of economy |

A mission from the International Monetary Fund, headed by the director of its African division, Lamin Leigh, arrived in Cape Verde today, March 5, to work on the institution’s Policy Support Instrument with the country. The IMF delegation, which will remain in the country for two weeks, will also review the country’s economic and financial policies within the framework of the Policy Support Instrument. This review, according to a press release from the Ministry of Finances and Public Administration, will include a wide-ranging evaluation of the country’s economic situation. As such, the members of the delegation are expected to meet with various private and public sector leaders on the islands of Santiago and São Vicente. At 10:00 am today, the delegation will hold its first meeting with Finance Ministry officials.
