 Cape Verde lost its first game in the first eliminatory round for the 2008 African Cup of Nations over the weekend. The final score of the match was two to zero in favor of the Gambia.
Various victories by visiting teams marked the first round of eliminatory games for the 2008 African Cup of Nations. Cameroon, for example, beat Rwanda in Kigali 3 to 0. Liberia beat Equatorial Guinea in the latter’s territory by 2 to 1 as well. The results of the other games played this weekend were Gabon- Madagascar (4-0), Mauritania -Botswana (4-0), Egypt - Burundi (4-1), Uganda - Lesotho (3-0), Nigeria - Niger (2-0), Sudan - Seychelles (3-0), Mauritius - Tunisia (0-0), Swaziland - Angola (0- 2), Kenya - Eritrea (1-2), Tanzania - Burkina Faso (2 -1), Senegal - Mozambique (2-0), Republic of Guinea - Algeria (0-0), Sierra Leone - Mali (0 - 0), Togo - Benin (2 -1), Ethiopia - Libya (1-0), RD of Congo - Namibia (3 - 2), South Africa - Congo (0-0), Chad - Zambia (0-2), and Morocco - Malawi (2 - 0).
