Image An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission will arrive tomorrow in Cape Verde in order to assist the government in compiling and publicizing Public Finance statistics “to be utilized as an indispensable tool in the formulation of economic policy.”

The IMF work mission will, among other things, analyze Cape Verde’s National Public Accounting Plan and update the lists of units that make up each of the public sub-sectors, as well as examine the fiscal sector’s methods. The mission will work directly with the Study Office at the Ministry of Finances and Public Administration, which is responsible for the production of public finance statistics.

Since 1996, Cape Verde has receiving IMF missions within the framework of public finance statistics programs. The last delegation from the international financial institution that visited Cape Verde to compile public finance statistics came in March 2004.
