The Minister of Agriculture and the Environment, Madalena Neves, will sign an accord today, April 3, with the European Commission defining the financing instruments of the Agricultural Development Program with the European Union.

The European Commission will support the financing of two major projects, the Valorization of the ordering of the Ribeira da Torre (Santo Antão) Hydrographic Basin and the Competiveness Improvement Project in the Agricultural Sector on the islands of Fogo and Santo Antão. The investment in Santo Antão will total 1,246,000 euros, while the investment in Fogo will total 500,000 euros.

According to an explanatory note from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment, the two areas are priority axes of interventions in the Cape Verdean government’s Strategic Agricultural Development Plan for the 2015 horizon.
