The Cape Verde government is working with the European Union to improve rural water supplies through the use of solar power to pump drinking water, media have reported. PANA news agency said that in addition to the EU-assisted water program, the Praia government also wants to develop solar power programs to supply street lighting in rural areas of the archipelago.Cape Verde’s capital hosted an exhibition on solar energy last week, an event aimed to promote use of this renewable energy source by the private sector.
