CapeVerdeTrip_March_2005_048.jpg We have contacted the Airport Authority to get the most upto date information for our members.  Whilst we await their response,  we have published a section of text issued by the Aiports Authority which gives a bit of insight into the vision for airports & flights to Cape Verde.
ASA  is increasingly investing in the capitalisation of the geo-strategic position of Cape Verde, a country located in the middle of the Atlantic.  In this sense, as has developed a vast programme for the capacity building of its human resources as well as for the modernisation and adaptation of the existing airport infrastructures and the services of air navigation, aimed at the upgrading of the level of performance and of the quality of the services provided at the airports and in the Oceanic FIR of the island of Sal.  The Master Plan for the main airports of the country, located in the islands of Sal, Praia and S.Vicente have been elaborated in collaboration with the IATA (International Association for the Air Transportation), and the project for development of the national Airport plan is under analysis.  The first steps towards the project for the transformation of the International Airport Amilcar Cabral into a Cargo Hub have already been taken.

The new Airport of Praia will be structurally prepared to serve as an alternative international airport.  The Master Plan of the airport of Sa Vicente includes a 500m length increase, thus allowing for the operations of bigger aircrafts, namely the Boeing 737.  The airport of Boa Vista will soon be upgraded to the category of international airport.  The following years will be decisive in terms of the consolidation of the as a strategies, accomplishments and activities, thus confirming its total adaptation to a more and more global and competitive world.  Therefore, its constant modernisation aimed at the guarantee of the success of the strategies adopted is indispensable.
